COVID UPDATE

Friday February 12, 2021 - Tuesday June 1, 2021 06:00am-04:59am
WE HAVE GOOD NEWS! Two of Northern Lake County Arts Board's major funders (Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation: Silver Bay Charitable Fund and Rosemary & David Good Family Foundation) have ok'd carry forward of unspent funds due to coronavirus to the 2021-22 academic year. This will allow the Arts Board to fund seven residencies for students at William Kelley School, safety permitting.

Although coronavirus has curtailed most activities since last March, the Arts Board sponsored a successful virtual Spoken Word Poetry Residency last spring for 11th and 12th grade English students through COMPAS. This residency will be held again this spring virtually and will include 9th as well as 11th and 12th grade students. This residency is funded by the Good Family Foundation.

The Arts Board have been providing sketchbooks to all elementary students each year. This year, at the request of the school, the Arts Board provided sketchbook to all William Kelley Students via funds from the Silver Bay Charitable Fund and Kathy Swendsen and Steve Nathian, formerly of Beaver Bay.

Member of the Arts Board are missing contact with students and teachers at William Kelley and with our student board members and hope we will be able to resume activities safely next fall or by the 1st of the year at the latest.
